Mapping and Analysing the Geography of Fiction with interactive Tools

The research project »A Literary Atlas of Europe« (2006 – ongoing) is presented in detail in two chapters. »Project Frame« contains information concerning the motivation, the project’s main ideas and the crucial need of an genuinely interdisciplinary collaboration between cartographers and literary scholars. »Project Structure« provides an overview about the actual work packages and task areas: From the selection of texts, the data modelling and data acquistion via the visualisation process to the results and map comments. The scenario (video) below – produced together with the visual designer Anne-Christine Krämer- shows how a future »Literary Atlas of Europe« might look like.
